The planning area of this City is the entire administrative region of Taicang, with a total area of 823 square kilometers. According to "The Overall Planning of Taicang City 2001-2020", the regional function is defined as a supporting industrial base of Shanghai and Suzhou, and one of the important passageways in Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Region for developing export-oriented economy. A forward-looking regional overall and detailed planning has been completed. Meanwhile, some of the detailed planning and special planning for the region have been partly completed, and a more scientific management system has been established.
